Besides the integral health program We plan to implement the following programs in coordination with the town government:

Food and Nutrition Program: The best way to assure sustainability of a nutrition program is to impulse food production in the community. A community farm will be developed as an example of what can be accomplished in this area. Also, small demonstration gardens will be established in schools, health centers and communal houses Technical assistance will be provided and cooperative financial systems organized.

Systems of food preservation and industrialization will be studied. A cooperative system of food distribution and education about food consumption will be established.

Educational Program: The educational program will be devoted to suppress illiteracy by means of an active campaign of alphabetization. Women education will be emphasized since there is a direct link between mother's education and health and education of their children

A second goal is to investigate the town history with the purpose of finding the cultural and anthropological roots from Spanish and Indian heritage, to create a sense of identity that is so important for development.

The third objective is to teach practical things for community country life.

Housing Program: In the rural area of Cuenca about 85 % of the population have a home, so this is not a big problem. Nevertheless, there is a lack of basic services inside the homes, around 78 % of the houses, have one or two bedrooms for the entire family. The goal of the housing program is to solve the small housing deficit, educate people, remodel homes and provide them with basic services.

Communication Program: This program deals with roads and transportation and communication systems, such as, press, radio, television, etc.

Improvement of roads will be accomplished by taking advantage of the ancestral custom of joint community work called "minga".

A town paper will be published, radio programs will be transmitted and a popular theatre, devoted to people's education, will be organized.

Work and Production Programs: An important problem is migration of people of working age, mainly to the United States, Spain and Italy. Migrants send significant amounts of money to their families. This money, with adequate advise, can be used to increment agricultural and cattle production, handicrafts, etc, creating jobs and improving the economy.

Recreational Program: Entertainment programs will be organized for different population groups. This new form of recreation will have the purpose to eradicate alcoholism, which is widespread in the rural area.
