After we realized the credibility and community acceptance we achieved with our surgical program we decided to carry out project with a greater health impact. In selected community we have organized integral health programs which included nutrition, child and family health, environment protection and basic sanitation. These projects had a duration from one to three years with limited results due probably to the short period of time and the lack of sustained financing.

We also organized integral health programs in two flower plantations. Part of these programs were protection of workers and the environment against chemicals and pesticides.

The Honduras Project: During 1994-95 the President of The Cinterandes Foundation, as a consultant of Pan-American Health Organization advised the implementation of the mobile surgery program in Honduras (Fig 12). A group of Honduran physicians and nurses visited our Foundation and a similar program was started in Honduras. Over 1000 patients were successfully operated.
